wagging tail from the sweet trusting dog pet,
sadness fills the heart to never forget,
he knows not what he did was wrong,
for both the owner having to be the one who is strong,
the vet comes with a needle in his hand,
inserting it giving some pain the dog doesn't understand,
the eyes roll back and he shakes having a fit,
as the punishment is death from the thief he bit,
a court order hammered down to have the dog put to sleep,
yet he did a good thing but now the owner does sadly weep.
