ice in coldest waters cracks at the side of the wooden boat,
the captain speaks of death if they cannot stay afloat,
a small leak in the side nothing to worry about,
as another springs making the shivering men shout,
working to seal it with primative tools,
and on top they all act like fools,
the captain himself sees ahead another ship,
point towards shaking his blue frozen bottom lip,
coming closer to a white covered bow,
he points to one of his men to enter now,
leaping across setting foot on the deck,
he moves around looking for anything to check,
slippery surface makes him fall,
then the men on the other ship laugh and call,
a wind picks up blowing hard and quick,
the ice forms on them to freeze solid and thick,
the other man on the other ship looks at them cold,
for he made it back so this story could be told.
