Future expectations failed from the broken trust,
once was a great thought as now fallen to dust,
repeated plans dropped because of attendance nil,
the search began for another with shoes to fill,
the love still existed but that is why it hurts more,
counting the times not there but never keeping score,
a heart can only beat for so long to forgive,
with reactions to disbelief from friends the way they live,
an attempt once more to reunite their hands,
but cannot maintain for long in these difficult demands,
lost in a drifting current with one sinking in the deep,
to forget the love they had being in a dream sleep,
faded bad memories remembered instead of good,
once were together but now apart forever they stood.
